Synonym: Bacillus aidingensis Xue, Ventosa, Wang, Ren, Zhou and Ma 2008.
Description is based upon a single isolate.
Gram-positive, short, motile (peritrichous flagella) rods 0.2-0.4 x 1.3-2.5 µm. Produce
subterminal/central, ellipsoidal endospores.
Colonies are creamy white, slightly centre-convex, 4-5 mm in diameter Aerobic
growth, pH range 6-9.5. Growth temperature 22-44 ºC. Moderately halophilic, grow in
8%-33% NaCl.
Isolated from a sediment sample from Lake Ai-Ding, a salt lake in Xin-Jiang Province, China.
Resistant to gentamicin, streptomycin, tobramycin, neomycin and polymyxin B.

Positive results for catalase, aesculin hydrolysis, gelatinase, H2S production, nitrate reduction, Voges-Proskauer, acid production
from: cellobiose, fructose, galactose, D-glucose, glycerol, D-mannitol, D-mannose and trehalose.
Negative results for caseinase, cellulose hydrolysis, methyl red test, oxidase, starch hydrolysis, Tween 20, 40, 60 and 80 hydrolysis,
urease, acid production from: L-arabinose, dulcitol, erythritol, inulin, lactose, melezitose, melibiose, raffinose, salicin, sorbose,
sucrose and D-xylose.
