Description is based upon a single isolate.
Gram-positive, motile rods.
Colonies are white, with a regular margin, convex, 2-3 mm in diameter. Grow on
nutrient agar. Aerobic growth, pH range 6-8. Growth temperature 20-40 ºC. Grow in
2% NaCl.
Isolated from cryogenic tubes used for collecting air samples from high altitudes.
Resistant to UV radiation.
Resistant to lincomycin (15 µg), ampicillin (25 µg), novobiocin (30 mg), ciprofloxacin(30 µg) and amikacin (30 µg).

D-galactose, D-mannitol, mannose, N-acetylglucosamine, ribose, salicin, starch, sucrose, D-tagatose, trehalose and D-xylose.
Can assimilate (API 20 NE): D-mannitol, D-mannose, N-acetylglucosamine and D-glucose and trisodium citrate.
Negative results for arginine dihydrolase, casein hydrolysis, alpha-fucosidase, H2S production, indole production, lipase, nitrate
reduction, N-acetyl-beta-glucosaminidase, ornithine decarboxylase, urea hydrolysis, Voges-Proskauer test, acid production from:
methyl beta-D-xyloside, D-adonitol, D- and L-arabitol, D- and L-fucose, lactose, D-lyxose, dulcitol, erythritol, gluconate, glycogen,
inulin, inositol, melezitose, melibiose, 2- and 5-ketogluconate, sorbitol, L-sorbose, rhamnose, xylitol and L-xylose.
No assimilation of: adipic acid, capric acid and phenylacetic acid.
Variable results for citrate utilization and lysine decarboxylase.
