Species description is based on a single isolate.
Gram-positive rods, 0.55 x 4.60 µm. Motile. Produce terminal, spherical endospores.
Colonies are 1-2 mm in diameter, cream, regular in shape with round edges. Growth
occurs at 30-70 ºC (optimum growth at 50 ºC), at pH range 6.0-11.0 (optimum pH is
7.5-8.5), can grow in the absence of NaCl (optimum growth at 1.5% NaCl); no growth
above 2.5% NaCl. Facultatively anaerobe.
Isolated from Ayder Hot Spring, Turkey. Susceptible to ampicillin, streptomycin sulphate, tetracycline, gentamicin and kanamycin.

Positive results for catalase, gelatinase, nitrate reduction, oxidase, and starch hydrolysis.
Can utilize: D-glucose, D-raffinose, D-sucrose, D-xylose, D-fructose, L-arabinose, maltose and D-mannose.
Negative results for H2S production, indole production and urease.
No utilization of lactose and L-rhamnose.
