Species description is based on a single isolate.
Gram-positive, straight rods, 0.4-0.6 x 1.0-2.0 μm. Non-motile. Non-sporulated.
Colonies are circular and yellow. Grows at temperature 10-50 ºC (optimum 35 ºC), pH
7.5-11.0 (optimum, pH 10.0) and in 0-16% (w/v) NaCl (optimum 3% NaCl). Strictly
aerobic.
Isolated from soda meadow saline soil in Daqing City, Heilongjiang Province of China.
Susceptible to the following antibiotics (μg per disc): penicillin G (10 IU per disc), kanamycin (30), chloramphenicol (30), erythromycin
(15), ampicillin (10), vancomycin (30) and bacitracin (0.04 IU per disc).
Resistant to novobiocin (30), tetracycline (30), streptomycin (10), neomycin (30), and gentamycin (10).

Positive results for arginine dihydrolase, catalase, casein hydrolysis, aesculin hydrolysis, gelatinase, beta-galactosidase, lysine
decarboxylase, methyl red, nitrate reduction to nitrite, ornithine decarboxylase, starch hydrolysis, Voges-Proskauer test, acid
production from: L-arabinose, D-glucose, inositol, D-mannitol and melibiose.
Can utilize as sole carbon and energy sources: glucose, sucrose, D-trehalose, arabinose, inositol, melibiose, mannitol, and
amygdalin.

Negative results for H
2S production, indole production, nitrite reduction to N2, oxidase, phenylalanine deamination, tryptophan
deaminase, Tween 20−80 hydrolysis, urease, acid production from: D-fructose, D-sorbitol and sucrose.
