Species description is based on a single isolate.
Gram-positive rods, 0.7-0.8 x 4.0-4.4 μm, occurring in long filamentous chains. Non-
motile. Produce ellipsoidal endospores are located terminally in a swollen sporangium.
Colonies are circular, pale orange in colour, slimy with entire indented edges,
about 1.5-3 mm diameter. Growth occurs at 20-45 ºC, at pH 7.0-10.0 and in 0-7%
(w/v) NaCl concentration. Optimum growth occurs at 30 ºC, at pH 7.0-7.5 and in
0-5% (w/v) NaCl. Grows on Nutrient agar. Strictly aerobic.
Isolated from a sediment sample collected from the intertidal region of mangroves at Chorao Island in Goa, India.

lactose, mannose, melezitose, methyl-alpha-D-glucoside, methyl-alpha-D-mannoside, sucrose and xylitol.
