Synonyms:

strain),
Bacillus lentus type lll Gordon and Hyde 1982, Bacillus okuhidensis Li et al. 2002.
Rods, 0.5-0.6 x 3.0-4.0 µm, occuring in long chains even when sporulated. Produce
subterminally, ellipsoidal (0.5-0.6 x 0.8-1.2 µm) endospores in slightly  swollen
sporangia.
Colonies are white with slightly filamentous margins. Aerobic. Alkaliphilic and
moderately halotolerant. Growth occurs at pH 7 to 10 (optimum pH 9-10) and at 15 -
55 ºC. Grow in nutrient broth with 2-12% NaCl added. Allantoin, urate or NaCl are not
required for growth.
Isolated from soil.
