Species description is based on a single isolate.
Gram-positive rods,0.5-0.8 x 1.7-2.6 µm. Motile by one or more polar or peritrichous
flagella. Endospores were
not detected.
Colonies on 2216E agar are round, convex, smooth and pale yellow. Growth occurs at
10-40 ºC (optimum 33 ºC), at pH 6.0-9.5 (optimum pH 7.5) and with 0-10% (w/v) NaCl
(optimum 2%
NaCl). Aerobic.
Isolated from ocean sediment of Laizhou Bay, Bohai Sea, China.
Susceptible to
ampicillin, ceftriaxone, chloramphenicol, kanamycin, neomycin, norfloxacin, ofloxacin, penicillin, rifampin,
sulfamethoxydiazine, tetracycline, tobramycin and vancomycin. Resistant to acetylspiramycin, clindamycin, erythromycin,
gentamycin, lincomycin, nalidixic acid and streptomycin.

trehalose, turanose, D-sorbitol, sucrose, acetic acid and acetoacetic acid.


Negative results for: acid phosphatase, amylase, alginate lyase, cellulase, alpha- and beta-glucosidase, H
2S production, indole
production, nitrate reduction, oxidase, Tweens 20, 40, 60 and 80 hydrolysis, urease, acid production from: cellobiose, D-fructose, D-
galactose, glycerol, lactose, D-mannitol, D-mannose, melibiose, raffinose, D-ribose and D-xylose.
No utilization of: D-mannose, melibiose, stachyose, N-acetyl-beta-D-mannosamine, N-acetyl-D-galactosamine, N-acetyl-D-
glucosamine, glycerol, myo-inositol, L-glutamic acid, D-gluconic acid, D-glucuronic acid, glucuronamide, pectin, propionic acid, D-
saccharic acid and Tween 40.

Contradictory results for acid production from sucrose.
