krulwichiae (Yumoto et al. 2003) Joshi et al. 2022.
Synonym: Bacillus krulwichiae Yumoto, Yamaga, Sogabe, Nodasaka,Matsuyama, Nakajima and Suemori 2003.
Species description is based on two isolates.
Gram-positive, straight rods, 0.5-0.7 x 1.5-2.6 µm, motile by peritrichous flagella.
Produce subterminal, ellipsoidal endospores in unswollen sporangia.
Produce round, colorless colonies. Facultatively anaerobic. Obligate alkaliphile; grow
at pH 8-10 but not at neutral pH. Temperature 40 ºC; no growth at 10 or 50 ºC. NaCl,
allantoin and urate are not required for growth. Halotolerant, grow in nutrient broth
with 0-14% NaCl added.
Isolated from a soil sample obtained from Tsukuba, Ibaraki, Japan.
Not determined.
