Phylum Bacillota (Firmicutes), Class Bacilli, Order Caryophanales, Family Bacillaceae, Genus Bacillus, Bacillus luti Liu et al. 2017.
Species description is based on a single isolate.
Gram-positive rods, 1.2-1.3 x 2.2-2.5 µm. Motile by peritrichous flagella. Produce
central, elliptical endospores. Sporangia are not deformed (admin note).
Colonies on LB medium are white, circular, non-translucent and 2-3 mm in diameter
after incubation at 32 ºC for 48 h. Growth occurs at 10-39 ºC (optimum 30 ºC), at pH
5-10 (optimum pH 7) and with 0-7% (w/v) NaCl (optimum 0.5%). Facultatively
anaerobic.
Isolated from sediment of the Pacific Ocean.
