Gram-positive, motile, slightly curved rods, 0.6-1.2 µm in diameter, singly and in
pairs,  occasionally in short chains or filaments. Produce subterminal / paracentral,
ellipsoidal endospores in slightly swollen sporangia.
Colonies are raised , cream, produce a soft brown pigment that diffuses in the agar,
and have slightly irregular margins and smooth or eggshell-textured surfaces on TSA.
Facultatively anaerobic. Growth temperature 30-55 ºC (optimum 30-40 ºC); pH 4-10
(optimum pH 7-9). NaCl tolerance is 0-5%. Alantoin or urate are not required for
growth.
Isolated from soil in the Drentse, an agricultural research area, The Netherlands.
