Phylum Bacillota (Firmicutes), Class Bacilli, Order Caryophanales, Family Bacillaceae, Genus Bacillus, Bacillus paramobilis Tohya et
al. 2021.
Species description is based on a single isolate.
Gram-positive rods, 1.0-1.1x 2.0-7.0 µm. Non-motile. Produce central ellipsoidal
endospores in unswollen sporangia.
Colonies on LB agar are circular, white and usually 3-5mm in diameter after growth
for 2days at 30 ºC. Growth occurs at 8-40 ºC, at pH 6.0-9.0 and at NaCl concentrations
of 0-5.0% (w/v). Facultatively anaerobic.
Isolated from a blood sample of a patient in Japan.

L-sorbose (weak), salicin, sucrose, starch, trehalose and xylitol (weak).

Negative results for arginine dihydrolase, citrate utilization, alpha-fucosidase, alpha- and beta-galactosidase, beta-glucuronidase,
N-acetyl-beta-glucosaminidase, H
2S production, indole production, lysine decarboxylase, alpha-mannosidase, ornithine
decarboxylase, tryptophan desaminase, urease, acid production from: D- and L-arabinose, D-adonitol, D- and L-arabitol, dulcitol,
erythritol, D- and L-fucose, gluconate, inositol, inulin, 2- and 5-ketogluconate, D-lyxose, D-mannitol, melezitose, raffinose, L-rhamnose,
D-sorbitol, turanose, D-tagatose, methyl beta-D-xylopyranoside, D- and L-xylose.
