Gram-positive, motile (peritrichous flagella) rods, 0.8-1.2 x 4-12 µm. Produce
ellipsoidal, central / subterminal spore in swollen sporangium.
Colonies are white, convex, 1-3 mm in diameter after incubation at 37 ºC for 2 days on
C agar (5 g peptone Difco, 1 g yeast extract Difco, 4 g K
2HPO4, 1 g MgSO4 * 7H2O, 0.2
g KCl,0.02 g FeSO
4  * 7H2O and 1000 ml distilled water and adjusted to pH 7.0).
Aerobic and anaerobic growth. Growth temperature 20-55 ºC, optimum 37 ºC. No
growth at 15 ºC. Can grow in 3%, but not in 5% NaCl. Grows at pH 7-9 (optimum pH
7.5), but not at pH 5-6.5.
The type strain was isolated from soil in Thailand.
Undetermined.
