Species description is based on a single isolate.
Gram-positive rods, 0.6-0.8 x 4-7 µm. Motile. Produce terminal and oval endospores.
Growth occurs at 37-72 ºC (optimally at 60 ºC), pH 5.5-9 (optimally at pH 6.0 ) and in 0-
3% NaCl (optimaly in 2% NaCl).
Can grow on Bacto Marine Agar. Aerobic; no
anaerobic growth.
Isolated from sediment of a shallow hydrothermal vent at Vulcano Island (Italy). Resistant to Polymyxin B.
Unknown (none).
