Species description is based on a single isolate.
Gram-negative rods. Non-motile. Non-spore-forming.
Colonies are circular with entire margins, white color. Optimum growth temperature is
30 ºC with growth at 15 ºC but not at 40 ºC. Optimum pH 7.5 with growth at pH 5.7 but
not pH 8.5.
Carbon monoxide is oxidized aerobically.
Isolated from volcanic soils from Kilauea Volcano (Hawaii, USA).
Undetermined.

Can utilize: alanine, arabinose, aspartate, benzoate, caprate, citrate, dimethylamine (weak), formate, fructose (weak), galactose
(weak), gluconate, glucose, alpha-ketoglutarate, glycerol, glutamate, beta-hydroxybutyrate, lactate, malate, malonate (weak),
mannose (weak), mannitol,  N-acetylglucosamine, phenylalanine, proline, propionate, ribose, succinate, trimethylamine (weak) and
tartrate.

Negative results for arginine dihydrolase, esculin hydrolysis, gelatin hydrolysis and beta-galactosidase.
No  utilization of: acetate, adipate, betaine, glucuronate, glutamate, glycine, isopropanol, lactose, maltose, methanol, methylamine,
phenylacetate, phthalate and valine.
