Description is based mostly on API ZYM and API 20 NE results.
Positive results for acid phosphatase, alkaline phosphatase (most strains), catalase, beta-galactosidase - PNPG (most strains),
leucine arylamidase, C4 lipase (weak reaction), phosphoamidase, Tweens 20, 60 and 80 hydrolysis.
Can assimilate D-glucose, L-arabinose, D-mannose, D-mannitol, N-acetyl-glucosamine, D-gluconate, adipate (most strains) and
L-malate.
Negative results for arginine dihydrolase, casein hydrolysis, DNase, esculin hydrolysis, alpha-fucosidase, gelatin hydrolysis, alpha-
and beta-galactosidase, beta-glucuronidase, alpha- and beta-glucosidase, N-acetyl-beta-glucosaminidase, alpha-mannosidase,
nitrate reduction (most strains), oxidase, starch hydrolysis, tryptophanase, urease, C8 lipase (most strains), C14 lipase, valine
arylamidase, cystine arylamidase, trypsin, chymotrypsin, acid production from D-glucose and lactose.
No assimilation of maltose and caprate.
Variable results for the assimilation of citrate and phenylacetate.

Gram-negative rods. Motile.
Colonies on TSA are white. Strains grow at 28 and 30 ºC, but not at 4, 15, 37, 40 or 45
ºC. Variable growth at pH 6. No growth at pH 4, 5, 7, 8 or 9. No growth in anoxic
conditions. Most isolates grow on MacConkey agar.
Isolated from the nodules of Piptadenia gonoacantha.
