Polynucleobacter, Polynucleobacter yangtzensis Hahn et al. 2016.
Basonym: Polynucleobacter necessarius Hahn et al. 2009. Four strains currently classified as Polynucleobacter necessarius subsp.
asymbioticus were reclassified as Polynucleobacter asymbioticus comb. nov., Polynucleobacter duraquae sp. nov.,
Polynucleobacter yangtzensis sp. nov. and Polynucleobacter sinensis sp. nov.
Gram-negative curved rods, 0.4-0.5 x 0.6-1.4 μm. Non-motile.
Grows on NSY and R2A media. Colonies on NSY agar are non-pigmented, circular
and convex with smooth surface. Growth occurs at 5-35 ºC and in 0-0.5% (w/v) NaCl.
Aerobic.
Isolated from a slightly alkaline, artificial pond at Tiger Hill (Huqiu) located in Suzhou, China.
Undetermined.
