Silvimonas terrae
Colonies on R2A are circular, convex and milky white. Growth occurs at  15-40 ºC,
optimally at 25-30 ºC. Can grow in pH 6.0 and 8.0, optimally in pH 7.0. Can grow in
0-2% (w/v) NaCl. Facultatively anaerobic.

Silvimonas terrae Yang et al. 2005, type species of the genus.
Gram-negative rods, 0.5-0.8 x 1.3-2.0 μm, occuring singly or in pairs. Motile by means
of a single polar flagellum.
Isolated from forest soil collected near KAIST, Daejeon, South Korea.
Resistant to ampicillin, tetracycline, streptomycin. Sensitive to kanamycin.
Undetermined.

Positive results for catalase, casein hydrolysis, chitin hydrolysis (but negative in
Muramatsu's study), CM-cellulose hydrolysis, DNase, beta-glucosidase, beta-galactosidase, nitrate reduction, oxidase, starch
hydrolysis and acid production from glucose.
Can utilize L-fucose, L-arabinose, maltose, D-mannose, L-rhamnose, D-sucrose, mannitol, N-acetylglucosamine and gluconate.

Negative results for arginine dihydrolase, esculin hydrolysis, gelatin hydrolysis, indole production, nitrite reduction to nitrogen and
urease.
No utilization of D-ribose, 3-hydroxybutyrate, acetate, adipate, citrate, 3-hydroxybenzoate, malate, valerate, 4-hydroxybenzoate,
5-ketogluconate, caprate, itaconate, D-sorbitol, lactate, malonate, phenylacetate, suberate, L-alanine, L-proline, L-serine, inositol,
D-melibiose, glycogen and salicin.
