Corynebacterium humireducens Wu, Zhuang, Zhou, Li and He 2011.
Gram-positive straight to curved rods, 1.0-2.0/0.5-0.7 µm, occurred singly or in pairs.
Non-spore-forming. Non-motile.
Colonies on LB agar are round, 0.5–1.0 mm in diameter, yellowish, dry and rough,
with a distinct wrinkled morphology after 24 hours. Optimum growth at 37 ºC (25-40
ºC limits), pH 9.0 (7.0-11.0 limits) and with 10% NaCl in aerobiosis. Facultatively
anaerobic.
Isolated from a microbial fuel cell fed with artificial wastewater and operated continuously at pH 10.0.

Positive results for alkaline phosphatase, catalase, esterase, esterase lipase, lipase, pyrazinamidase, pyrrolidonyl arylamidase, acid
production from: glucose and ribose.
Negative results for aesculin hydrolysis, gelatin hydrolysis, beta-galactosidase, alpha-glucosidase, beta-glucuronidase, methyl red,
N-acetyl-beta-glucosaminidase, nitrate reduction, oxidase, starch hydrolysis, tyrosine hydrolysis, urease, acid production from:
arabinose, fructose, galactose, lactose, maltose, mannose, mannitol, raffinose, rhamnose, salicin, sucrose, trehalose and xylose.
