Gram-negative rods, 0.6 x 1.3-1.5 µm. Motile.
Colonies are milk-white, circular with entire margins, smooth and approximately 1-1.2
mm in diameter after incubation for 2 days at 30 ºC on TSA plates. Growth occurs at
4-41 ºC, optimally at 30 ºC. Able to grow at pH 4-10, optimally at pH 6.5, and in 1-6%
(w/v) NaCl. Facultatively anaerobic.
Isolated from symptomatic bark of Populus x euramericana canker.
Causes bark canker disease of Populus x euramericana.

D-mannitol, maltose, melibiose, N-acetylglucosamine, raffinose, D-ribose, salicin, D-sorbitol, sucrose, and D-xylose.
Can assimilate (Biolog GN2) dextrin, N-acetyl-D-glucosamine, L-arabinose, D-fructose, D-galactose, alpha-D-glucose, maltose,
D-mannitol, melibiose, methyl beta-D-glucoside, D-psicose, raffinose, L-rhamnose, D-sorbitol, sucrose, turanose, xylitol, methyl
pyruvate, monomethyl succinate, acetic acid, formic acid, D-gluconic acid, alpha-hydroxybutyric acid, alpha-ketobutyric acid, D, L-lactic
acid, succinic acid, bromosuccinic acid, L-asparagine, Laspartic acid, uridine, thymidine, 2,3-butanediol, glycerol and D,
L-alpha-glycerol.
Negative results for citrate utilization, beta-galactosidase, gelatinase, H2S production, indole production, lysine decarboxylase, nitrate
reduction to nitrite, ornithine decarboxylase, oxidase, tryptophan deaminase, urease, and acid production from turanose.
No assimilation of gentibiose, lactose, and L-serine.
Variable acid production from cellobiose, gentiobiose, gluconate, 5-ketogluconate, inositol, lactose, L-rhamnose, and trehalose.
Variable assimilation of L-fucose, D-mannose, myo-inositol, trehalose, D-galactonic acid lactone, alpha-ketobutyric acid, D-saccharic
acid, sebacic acid, L-glutamic acid, L-proline, glucose 1-phosphate and glucose 6-phosphate.
