Gram negative, straight bacilli, motile by peritrichous flagella.
Colonies grown on nutrient agar are circular, slightly convex with entire margins,
translucent and non-pigmented. In KB medium, colonies are circular, convex,
highly mucoid, translucent and non-pigmented. Optimum growth temperature 28 ºC.
Growth occurs at 36 ºC but not at 39 ºC. Facultatively anaerobic.
Isolated from knots induced by Pseudomonas savastanoi in olive trees (Olea europaea L.).
Associated with Pseudomonas savastanoi-induced knots in olive trees as secondary invaders on diseased plants.

Positive results for catalase, alpha- and beta-galactosidase, beta-glucosidase, methyl red reaction, acid production from amygdalin,
L-arabinose, D-arabitol, cellobiose, glucose (without gas), galacturonate, meso-inositol, maltose, melibiose, mannitol, trehalose.
Can utilize as sole carbon sources D-glucose, L-arabinose, D-ribose, mannitol, salicin, melibiose, citrate, acetate, propionate,
2-ketogluconate, N-acetylglucosamine, malonate, L-alanine, L-proline and L-serine.

Negative results for arginine dihydrolase, gelatinase, H
2S production, indole production, lysine decarboxylase, lipase,
alpha-maltosidase, N-acetyl-beta-glucosaminidase, ornithine decarboxylase, phenylalanine deaminase, L-aspartic acid
arylamidase, nitrate reduction, pectinase, oxidase, tryptophan deaminase, urease, Voges-Proskauer test, acid production from
raffinose.
No utilization of DL-lactate, D-malate, alpha-L-rhamnose, meso-tartrate, and sucrose. Sucrose-reducing compounds are not
produced.
