Gram-negative rods, 1.2 x 0.6 μm. Motile. Non-spore-forming.
Colonies are smooth cream, 2 mm in diameter after 24 h of incubation on TSA. Grows
at 15-45 ºC with optimal growth at 35 ºC. Range of pH for growth is 4-9 with optimum
growth at pH 7. Tolerates up to 10% NaCl but grows optimally with 0.5% NaCl. Good
growth occurs on Luria agar, nutrient agar, R2A agar and TSA. Facultatively anaerobic.
Isolated from a stool sample of a healthy human subject residing in Pune, Maharastra, India.

Negative results for alkaline phosphatase, arginine dihydrolase, amylase, DNase, esterase, esterase lipase, cystine arylamidase,
alpha-chymotrypsin, alpha-fucosidase, alpha-galactosidase, beta-glucuronidase, alpha-glucosidase, gelatinase, H
2S production, N-
acetyl beta-glucosaminidase, lipase, alpha-mannosidase, oxidase, urease, acid production from amygdalin, salicin, ᴅ-sorbitol, and
sucrose.
No utilization of trisodium citrate, gelatin, capric acid, adipic acid and phenylacetic acid.
