Gram-negative rods, 0.8-1.2 x 1.0-2.9 μm. Non-capsulated. Non-motile. Nonspore-
forming.
Colonies grown on nutrient agar at 30 ºC for 2 days are pale beige to pale reddish
yellow. Fermentative. Abundant growth occurs at 20 to 34 ºC and at pH 6.0 to 7.5.
Growth occurs at pH 5.0-9.0. Nicotinic acid or nicotinamide are required for growth.
Facultatively anaerobic, but anaerobic growth is weak.
Isolated from fruit (mandarin orange) in Japan.
