Species description is based on a single isolate.
Gram-positive, coccoid cells, 1 µm in diameter, usually occuring singly. Non-motile.
Non-spore-forming.
Colonies on mMRS agar plate are small, circular, smooth, convex, with entire margins,
greyish-white and  1-1.5 mm in diameter after 2 days incubation at 30 ºC. Can grow at
37 ºC, at pH 11, and in 5% (w/v) NaCl in mMRS agar. No growth at 45 ºC, at pH 5 or in
6% NaCl in mMRS agar. Facultatively anaerobic.
Isolated from traditional pickle juice in Heilongjiang province, in China.
Sensitive to 100 µg/ml neomycin sulfate, 5 µg/ml ampicillin and 50 µg/ml chloramphenicol. Resistant to 50 µg/ml neomycin sulfate, 5
µg/ml chloramphenicol and 300 µg/ml erythromycin. Tellurite tolerant.

Positive results for H2S production, pyruvate utilisation, acid production from D- and and L-arabitol, cellobiose, D-fructose, glycerol,
D-galactose, D-glucose (without gas production), D-lyxose, lactose (delayed), D-mannose, D-mannitol, maltose,
N-acetylglucosamine, D-ribose, D-sorbitol, trehalose, and xylitol.

Negative results for arginine dihydrolase, catalase, esculin hydrolysis, hippurate hydrolysis, indole production, nitrate and nitrite
reduction, pyrrolidonyl arylamidase, urease,  Voges-Proskauer reaction, acid production from D-adonitol, D- and L-arabinose,
amygdalin, arbutin, dulcitol, erythritol, D- and L-fucose, glycogen, gentiobiose, gluconate, 2- and 5-ketogluconate, inositol, inulin,
melibiose, melezitose, methyl-alpha-D-mannopyranoside, methyl-alpha-D-glucopyranoside, L-rhamnose, salicin, L-sorbose,
sucrose, starch, D- and L-xylose, methyl-beta-D-xylopyranoside, raffinose, turanose, and D-tagatose.
