Species description is based on a single isolate.
Gram-positive, coccoid cells, 1.0-1.5 µm, occuring in pairs or chains. Motile.
Non-spore-forming.
Colonies formed on BHI after incubation for 48h at 37 ºC are nonpigmented, circular,
smooth, shiny, diameter 1–2mm, with entire margins. Grows at 10-45 ºC (optimum,
30-37 ºC), at  0-8.0% NaCl (optimum, 0-6.5% NaCl) in BHI medium. Non-haemolytic.
Facultatively anaerobic.
Isolated from the gut of a wax moth Galleria mellonella at John Innes Centre (Norwich, UK). Resistant to 4µg/ml vancomycin.

Positive results for arginine dihydrolase, esculin hydrolysis, alpha- and beta-glucosidase, beta-glucuronidase, pyrrolidonyl
arylamidase, Voges-Proskauer reaction,  acid production (API 50 CH) from: L-arabinose, amygdalin, arbutin, cellobiose, esculin,
fructose, galactose, glucose, gentibiose, gluconate, glycerol, inulin, 2-ketogluconate, lactose, mannose, mannitol, methyl
alpha-D-mannoside, methyl alpha-glucoside, N-acetylglucosamine, maltose, melibiose, raffinose, rhamnose, ribose, salicin, starch,
sorbitol, sucrose, trehalose, and D-xylose.

Negative results for catalase, hippurate hydrolysis, pyruvate utilization, oxidase, urease, acid production from: D-arabinose, adonitol,
D- and L-arabitol, dulcitol, erythritol, D- and L-fucose, glycogen, inositol, 5-ketogluconate, melezitose, sorbose, turanose, D-tagatose,
methyl beta-D-xyloside, xylitol, and L-xylose.
