Description is based on a single isolate.
Gram-positive cocci, nonmotile.
Colonies are small, nonpigmented, alpha-haemolytic. Grows at 10 and 45 ºC. No
growth in 6.5% NaCl.
The only strain described was isolated from bovine mastitis.

Positive results for pyruvate utilization, pyrrolidonyl arylamidase, esculin hydrolysis,
hippurate hydrolysis, beta-galactosidase, Voges-Proskauer test, acid production from:
adonitol, ribose, sorbose, N-acetylglucosamine, amygdalin, cellobiose, galactose,
2-ketogluconate, lactose, maltose, mannitol, alpha-methyl-D-glucoside, sorbitol and
trehalose.
Negative results for alkaline phosphatase, arginine dehydrolase, alpha-galactosidase, beta-glucuronidase, acid production from: D-
or L-arabitol, L-arabinose, dulcitol, glycerol, glycogen, inositol, inulin, melezitose, melibiose, D-raffinose, rhamnose, starch, sucrose
and D-tagatose.
