quebecensis Sistek et al. 2012.
Gram-positive, ovoid cells, 0.5-1 µm in diameter and arranged in pairs or in short
chains. Non-motile. Non-spore-forming.
Colonies on sheep-blood agar at 35 ºC are grey-translucent, weakly alpha-haemolytic
and about 1 mm in diameter and are unaffected by the absence or presence of 5%
CO2. Growth is observed at room temperature and at 30 ºC under aerobic conditions.
Growth is also observed at 35 ºC under aerobic as well as anaerobic conditions.
Does not grow at 4 or 45 ºC. The optimal temperature for growth is between room
temperature and 30 ºC. Does not grow in the presence of 6.5% NaCl. Does not
produce extracellular polysaccharide on 5% sucrose agar.
Isolated from well water in the Province of Quebec (Saint-Malo), Canada.
Undetermined.
