Species description is based on a single isolate.
Gram-positive, coccoid cells, 1 µm in diameter, usually occuring singly. Non-motile.
Non-spore-forming.
Colonies on mMRS agar plate are small, circular, smooth, convex, with entire
margins, greyish-white and 0.5-1.0 mm in diameter after 2 days incubation at 30 ºC.
Can grow at 37 ºC, and at pH 11. No growth at 45 ºC, at pH 5 or in 5% NaCl.
Facultatively anaerobic.
Isolated from traditional pickle juice in Heilongjiang province, in China.
Sensitive to 300 µg/ml neomycin sulfate, 5 µg/ml ampicillin and 50 µg/ml chloramphenicol. Resistant to 100 µg/ml neomycin sulfate,
300 µg/ml erythromycin, and 5 µg/ml chloramphenicol. Tellurite tolerant.

Positive results for arginine dihydrolase, esculin hydrolysis, H2S production, Voges-Proskauer reaction (weak), acid production from
amygdalin, arbutin, cellobiose, D-fructose, D-galactose, D-glucose, gentiobiose, lactose, maltose, D-mannose,
methyl-alpha-D-glucopyranoside, N-acetylglucosamine, melibiose, raffinose, sucrose, trehalose, turanose, and D-xylose.
Negative results for catalase, hippurate hydrolysis, indole production, nitrate and nitrite reduction, pyruvate utilisation, pyrrolidonyl
arylamidase, urease, acid production from D-adonitol, D- and L-arabitol, D- and L-arabinose, dulcitol, erythritol, D- and L-fucose,
glycerol, glycogen, gluconate, 2- and 5-ketogluconate, inositol, inulin, D-lyxose, D-mannitol, methyl-alpha-D-mannopyranoside,
melezitose, D-ribose, L-rhamnose, L-sorbose, D-sorbitol, starch, D-tagatose, xylitol, L-xylose, and methyl-beta-D-xylopyranoside.
