Gram-positive, spherical or ovoid cells, 1.0 x 1.0-1.5 µm,occurring in pairs or short
chains. Non-motile. Non-spore-forming.
Colonies on mMRS agar are circular, smooth, white and approximately 0.5 mm in
diameter after 2 days of incubation at 30 ºC. Grows at 37 ºC, but not 45 ºC. Grows at
pH 11, but not at pH 4. Grows on mMRS agar supplemented with 5% (w/v) NaCl, but
not with 6% (w/v) NaCl. Facultatively anaerobic.
Isolated from traditional pickle in Heilongjiang province, China.

Positive results for leucine arylamidase, pyrrolidonyl arylamidase, Voges-Proskauer test, acid production from adonitol, D-arabitol,
cellobiose, fructose, glucose (without gas production), gluconate, mannose, mannitol, maltose, N-acetylglucosamine, ribose,
sorbitol, and trehalose.
Negative results for alkaline phosphatase, arginine dihydrolase, ammonia production from arginine, catalase, esculin hydrolysis,
alpha- and beta-galactosidase, beta-glucuronidase, hippurate hydrolysis, acid production from amygdalin, D- and L-arabinose,
L-arabitol, arbutin, dulcitol, erythritol, D- and L-fucose, glycerol, galactose, glycogen, gentiobiose, methyl alpha-D-glucopyranoside,
inositol, inulin, 2- and 5-ketogluconate, lactose, lyxose, melibiose, melezitose, methyl alpha-D-mannopyranoside, raffinose,
rhamnose, salicin, sorbose, sucrose, starch, tagatose, turanose, methyl beta-D-xylopyranoside, xylitol, D- and L-xylose.
