Gram-positive rods, 0.7-1.0 x 1.3-6.9 µm, occurring single or in pairs. Non-motile.
Non-spore-forming.
Colonies are ivory, opaque, umbonate, glistening, undulate, 1-2 mm in diameter after
48 h incubation on MRSF agar (MRS with 20 g/l fructose) under anaerobic conditions.
Grows at 10-45 ºC (optimum 17 ºC). Can grow in pH 4.0-8.5 (optimum pH 6.8) and in
0-7.5% NaCl. Facultatively anaerobic. Obligately fructophilic.
Isolated from the homogenate of a European honeybee (Apis mellifera), Australia.
Undetermined.
Heterofermentative.
Description is based mostly on API 50 CHL (14 days) and API ZYM (bioMerieux) results.
