Homotypic synonym: Paucilactobacillus hokkaidonensis (Tohno et al. 2013) Zheng et al. 2020.
Gram-positive rods, 0.8-1.2 x 1.5-3.0 µm, occuring singly and in pairs. Non-motile.
Non-spore-forming.
Colonies on MRS agar are white, smooth, convex, small (0.5-1.0 mm in diameter, after
72 h at 25 ºC under anaerobic conditions. Facultative anaerobe. Grows at temperature
range 4-37 ºC (optimally at 25 ºC), pH range 4.0-7.0 and in 4.0% NaCl.
Isolated from timothy grass (Phleum pratense L.) silage in Hokkaido, Japan.
Undetermined.
Heterofermentative.
Description is based mostly on API 50 CHL, API ZYM, and API 20 Strep (bioMerieux) results.
