Homotypic synonym:
Companilactobacillus insicii (Ehrmann et al. 2016) Zheng et al. 2020.
Species description is based on a single isolate.
Gram-positive rods, 1.0 x 3.0-6.0 µm, occuring singly or in pairs. Nonspore-forming.
Nonmotile.
Colonies on MRS agar are beige, convex with entire edges, up to 1 mm in diameter,
after 3 days at 30 ºC. Grows better in MRS broth than on MRS agar. Facultative
anaerobe, with better growth under anaerobic conditions. Temperature range for
growth is 8-45 ºC (optimum 30 ºC). Can grow in 10% NaCl media, and in pH 4.0.
Isolated from fermented raw meat (pork salami, fermented sausage).
Undetermined.
