Homotypic synonym: Levilactobacillus koreensis (Bui et al. 2011) Zheng et al. 2020.
Species description is based on a single isolate.
Gram-positive, curved rods, 1.4-2.0 x 3.0-5.0 µm. Motile. Non-spore-forming.
Colonies on MRS agar are beige, convex, smooth , smaller than 1 mm in diameter
after 1 day. Facultatively anaerobic. Can grow at 10 and 37 ºC, but not at 45 ºC.
Optimum pH 4.5-6.5. Can grow at pH 10; no growth at pH 4.0. Can grow in 1% and
7% NaCl, no growth in 8% NaCl.
Isolated from the traditional Korean food kimchi.
Undetermined.
