Homotypic synonym: Secundilactobacillus oryzae (Tohno et al. 2013) Zheng et al. 2020.
Gram-positive rods, 1.0 x 2-8 µm, occuring singly and in pairs. Non-motile.
Non-spore-forming.
Colonies on MRS agar are white, smooth, convex, small (1.0-2.0 mm in diameter),
after 48 hours at 30 ºC under anaerobic conditions. Facultative anaerobe. Grows at
temperature range 4-45 ºC (optimally at 30 ºC), pH range 5.0-8.0 and in 4-8% NaCl.
Isolated from fermented rice grains in Tochigi, Japan.
Undetermined.
Heterofermentative.
