Gram-positive rods, 0.5 x 1.5-5.0 µm. Non-motile. Non-spore-forming.
Colonies are smooth, grey-white, glossy, with a slightly undulated edge, 1.0-2.0 mm
in diameter after 3 days of anaerobic incubation at 37 ºC on MRS agar. Grows at
25-45 ºC, pH 4.0-8.0, and 2% NaCl. Facultative anaerobic.
Isolated from human faeces.

Description is based on API 50 CHL (incubated at 30 ºC for 7 days) and API ZYM (bioMerieux) results.
Positive results for acid phosphatase, esculin hydrolysis, cystine arylamidase, esterase (C4), beta-glucosidase,
N-acetyl-beta-glucosaminidase, leucine arylamidase, valine arylamidase, naphthol-AS-BI-phosphohydrolase, fermentation of
amygdalin, arbutin, cellobiose, esculin, D-fructose, galactose, gentiobiose, glucose (without gas production), lactose, maltose,
mannose, salicin, starch, sucrose, D-tagatose, trehalose, and N-acetylglucosamine.
Negative results for alkaline phosphatase, arginine deamination, catalase, alpha-fucosidase, lipase (C14), alpha-mannosidase,
trypsin, alpha-chymotrypsin, fermentation of adonitol, D- and L-arabinose, D- and L-arabitol, dulcitol, erythritol, D- and L-fucose,
gluconate, 2- and 5-ketogluconate, glycerol, glycogen, inositol, inulin, D-lyxose, mannitol, melezitose, melibiose, methyl
