Gram-positive cocci, 0.6-1.2 µm in diameter, occuring singly, in pairs and tetrads.
Non-motile. Non-spore-forming.
Colonies are white, smooth and circular with a convex elevation and an entire margin.
Grows at pH 4.5-9.0. Growth occurs at 35, 40 and 45 ºC, not at 48 ºC. Grows in up to
8% NaCl. Facultatively anaerobic.
Isolated from white maize grains.
