Gram-positive rods, 0.7 x 1.3-3.0 µm. Non-motile. Non-spore-forming.
Colonies are glossy, white, 0.2-1.0 mm in diameter after 3 days of incubation at 30 ºC
on MRS agar . Can grow at 10-37 ºC (optimally at 30 ºC) and pH 4.0-7.5. No growth in
4% NaCl medium. Facultatively anaerobic.
Isolated from total mixed ration silage, Japan.

alpha-D-glucopyranoside, ribose, D-xylose, and N-acetylglucosamine.
Negative results for cystine arylamidase, alpha-fucosidase, beta-glucuronidase, lipase (C14), alpha-mannosidase, trypsin,
alpha-chymotrypsin, N-acetyl-beta-glucosaminidase, naphthol-AS-BI-phosphohydrolase, fermentation of adonitol, amygdalin, arbutin,
