Gram-positive rods, 0.5 x 2-5 µm occurring singly or in short chains.
Nonspore-forming. Nonmotile.
On MRS agar, after 2 days at 37 ºC, the colonies are white, 1-2 mm in diameter, and
disc-shaped. Facultatively anaerobic. Can grow at 15 ºC, variable at 45 ºC.
Isolated from fermented cane molasses at alcohol plants in Thailand.

cellobiose, dulcitol, erythritol, esculin, D-fructose, D,L-fucose, 2-ketogluconate, beta-gentiobiose, glycerol, glycogen, inositol, inulin,
lyxose, mannitol, mannose, melezitose, rhamnose, salicin, sorbitol, sorbose, starch, sucrose, tagatose, trehalose, turanose, L-xylose,
and xylitol.
Variable results for 5-ketogluconate, raffinose, and salicin fermentation.
