Description is based on a single isolate.
Gram-positive round to ovoid cells, grouped mostly in pairs or short chains. Non-motie.
Endospores are not formed.
Colonies on GYEA plates are pinpoint, white and opaque, with a diameter of less than
0.3 mm. Facultatively anaerobic. Optimum growth at 30 ºC. Weak growth at 37 ºC. Can
grow at 4 ºC, but not at 40 ºC. Does not grow in 4% NaCl medium.
Isolated from a foam sample taken from an activated sludge wastewater treatment plant in Cheonan, Republic of Korea.

Positive results for esculin hydrolysis, hippurate hydrolysis, leucine aminopeptidase, Voges–Proskauer test, acid production from:
N-acetylglucosamine, amygdalin, arbutin, cellobiose (weak), D-fructose, D-glucose, gentiobiose, D-mannose, mannitol, maltose,
salicin, sucrose, trehalose (weak) and turanose (weak).
Negative results for alkaline phosphatase, arginine dihydrolase, catalase, alpha-galactosidase, beta-glucuronidase, beta-
galactosidase, oxidase, pyrrolidonyl arylamidase, acid production from: L-arabinose, galactose, glycogen, inulin, lactose, melibiose,
melezitose, methyl alpha-D-glucoside, methyl alpha-D-mannoside, raffinose, ribose, sorbitol and D-xylose.
Variable results for starch acidification.
