Species description is based on a single isolate.
Gram-positive rods, 0.57 x 1.29 μm. Motile (flagella). Non-spore-forming.
Colonies on R2A medium are circular, convex and yellow. Growth occurs on LB, PDA,
TSA, R2A and NA, but not on MacConkey agar. Growth occurs at 4–34 ºC (optimally at
30 ºC), at pH 4-10 (optimum pH 7), and with 0-5 % (w/v) NaCl. Aerobic.
Isolated from the soil of a Gynostemma pentaphyllum field in South Korea.
Susceptible to penicillin G (10 units), erythromycin (15 μg), cefazolin (30 μg), oleandomycin (15 μg), vancomycin (30 μg), carbamicillin
(100 μg), rifampicin (5 μg), neomycin (30 μg), novobiocin (30 μg) and tetracycline (30 μg). Resistant to ceftazidime (30 μg).

Positive results for acid and alkaline phosphatase, catalase, cellulose hydrolysis, cystine arylamidase, esterase (C4) (weak reaction),
esterase lipase (C8), alpha- and beta-glucosidase, alpha- and beta-galactosidase, gelatin hydrolysis, H2S production, leucine
arylamidase, lipase (C14), naphthol-AS-BI-phosphohydrolase, alpha-mannosidase, oxidase, skimmed milk, Tween 20 hydrolysis,
trypsin, alpha-chymotrypsin, and valine arylamidase.
Can utilize as sole carbon source glucose, D-mannose, D-mannitol, N-acetylglucosamine, maltose, potassium gluconate, D/L-malate,
phenylacetate (weak reaction), and sodium citrate.
Can assimilate N-acetylglucosamine, myo-inositol, sucrose, maltose, lactic acid, L-alanine, D-mannitol, D-glucose, salicin, melibiose,
glycogen, 3-hydroxybenzoic acid, L-serine, D-sorbitol, trisodium citrate, L-histidine, 2- and 5-ketogluconate, 4-hydroxybenzoic acid,
L-proline and L-rhamnose (weak reaction).
Negative results for arginine dyhydrolase, DN-ase, alpha-fucosidase, esculin hydrolysis, beta-glucuronidase,
N-acetyl-beta-glucosaminidase, indole production, nitrate reduction, starch hydrolysis, urease, and Tween 80 hydrolysis.
No utilization of L-arabinose, caprate and adipate.
No assimilation of D-ribose, itaconic acid, suberic acid, sodium malonate, sodium acetate, L-fucose, L-arabinose, propionic acid,
capric acid, valeric acid and 3-hydroxybutyric acid.
