ignavus Yassin et al. 2011, type species of the genus.
Species description is based on a single isolate.
Gram-positive, 0.4-0.5 x 2.1-2.5 µm, showing a rod-coccus cycle. Motile.
Non-spore-forming.
Colonies are cream-coloured, smooth and have an entire margin. Growth occurs on
BHI agar, DST agar, Columbia agar supplemented with 5% sheep’s blood and TSA
agar. CAMP test negative with S. aureus Growth occurs at 10-37 ºC, at pH 7.4-9.0
(optimum at pH 9), and in 0-12% NaCl. Aerobic.
Isolated from human ear.

pyrazinamidase, starch hydrolysis (3 days), tyrosine hydrolysis (weakly), and Voges-Proskauer test.
Negative results for adenine hydrolysis, acid phosphatase, arginine dihydrolase, casein hydrolysis, cystine arylamidase, CAMP test,
elastin hydrolysis, esculin hydrolysis, alpha-fucosidase, gelatin hydrolysis, guanine hydrolysis, esterase C4, beta-glucosidase,
alpha- and beta--galactosidase, beta-glucuronidase, N-acetyl-beta-glucosaminidase, hippurate hydrolysis, hypoxanthine hydrolysis,
keratin hydrolysis, lipase C14, leucine arylamidase, alpha-mannosidase, pyrrolidonyl arylamidase, urease, nitrate reduction,
oxidase, alpha-chymotrypsin, trypsin, testosterone hydrolysis, valine arylamidase, and xanthine hydrolysis.
No acid production from L-arabinose, D-glucose, maltose, sucrose, and trehalose.
No assimilation of acetate, adipate, adonitol, L-arabinose, isoamyl alcohol, 2,3-butanediol, cellobiose, citrate, meso-erythritol,
D-galactose, D-glucose, D-gluconate, m-hydroxybenzoate, p-hydroxybenzoate, myo-inositol, L-lactate, lactose, maltose, D-mannitol,
melezitose, 1,2-propanediol, raffinose, L-rhamnose, D-sorbitol, sucrose, trehalose and D-xylose.
No utilization of acetamide, L-alanine, gelatin, L-proline and L-serine.
