Old synonym:
Arthrobacter creatinolyticus Hou et al. 1998.
Gram-positive irregular rods, 0.5-0.8 x 1.4-3.6 μm, becoming coccoid in old cultures.
Non-motile.
Colonies are circular, smooth and yellow pigmented, about 1-1.5 mm in diameter
after 24 hours culture on brain heart infusion agar. Grows well aerobically at 37 ºC.
Isolated from urine from patients with unusually low levels of creatinine in urine samples, Japan.

Positive results for catalase, creatinine hydrolysis, gelatin hydrolysis, nitrate reduction, xanthine hydrolysis, and acid production from
glycerol.
Can utilize 5-aminovalerate, D(+)-glucose, and glycerol.

Negative results for esculin hydrolysis, galactosidase,  starch hydrolysis, urease, acid production from arabinose, galactose, inositol,
rhamnose, ribose, xylitol, or xylose.
No utilization of malonate, DL-glycerate, (–)-quinate, L-histidine, D-xylose, D-ribose, L-arabinose, D-galactose, lactose, L-rhamnose,
and D-xylitol.
