Gram-positive coccoid cells, 1.0-1.5 μm in diameter, occuring in pairs and tetrads.
Endospores are not formed. Nonmotile. Nonencapsulated.
Colonies are yellow, circular, convex, and opaque. Good growth at 28-37 ºC. Grows at
pH 7.0-9.1. Very weak growth in the presence of 10% (w/v) NaCl. Obligately aerobic.
Isolated from meat.
