Species description is based on a single isolate.
Gram-positive cocci, 1-1.5 μm in diameter. Endospores are not formed. Nonmotile.
Colonies are lemon-yellow on ISP-2, ISP-3, ISP-4 and ISP-5, cream on ISP-6 and
deep yellow on Bennett’s agar. Aerial mycelia are absent. Diffusible pigment is not
observed. Grows at 10-45 ºC (optimum, 28-30 ºC), at pH 4.0-10.0 (optimum, pH 7-8)
and in the presence of 0-15% (w/v) NaCl. Aerobic.
Isolated from a sediment sample from an intertidal region of mangroves at Chorao Island in Goa province, India.

Positive results for acid phosphatase, esterase (C4), catalase, leucine arylmidase, nitrate reduction and starch hydrolysis.
Can utilize as sole carbon source cellobiose, D-galactose, D-glucose, glycogen, D-fructose, inositol, cupric acid, Dmannitol,
D-mannose, melibiose, melezitose, D-ribose, L-rhamnose, salicin, phenylacetic acid, trisodium citrate, trehalose and turanose.
Negative results for alkaline phosphatase, arginine dehydrogenase, cystine arylamidase, alpha-fucosidase, alpha- and
beta-galactosidase, alpha- and beta-glucosidase, N-acetyl-beta-glucosaminidase, beta-glucuronidase, alpha-mannosidase, H2S
production, indole production, lipase (C14), oxidase, trypsin, alpha-chymotrypsin, urea hydrolysis and valine arylamidase.
No utilization of glycerol, erythritol, D- and L-arabinose, D- and L-xylose, D-adonitol, methyl beta-D-xylopyranoside, L-sorbose, dulcitol,
D-sorbitol, methyl alpha-D-mannopyranoside, methyl alpha-D-gluocopyranoside, N-acetylglucosamine, amygdalin, arbutin, aesculin,
maltose, lactose, sucrose, inulin, raffinose, xylitol, gentiobiose, Dlyxose, D-tagatose, D-fucose, L-fucose, D-arabitol, L-arabitol,
potassium gluconate, 2- and 5-ketogluconate.
