Description is based on a single isolated strain.
Gram-positive coccoid cells, 0.5-0.7 μm in diameter. Nonmotile. Endospores are not
formed.
Colonies on TSA are yellow, slimy, smooth, and circular with entire margins. The
temperature, pH, and NaCl ranges for growth are 15-37 ºC, pH 6-9, and 0-10% (w/v).
Optimal growth occurs at 28 ºC and at around pH 7.0–8.0. Aerobic.
Isolated from surface-sterilized roots of the plant Aquilaria sinensis, collected in the tropical rainforest of Yunnan Province in
south-west China.

Positive results for catalase, gelatin hydrolysis, nitrates reduction, oxidase, Tween 80 hydrolysis, acid production from
N-acetylglucosamine, esculin, D- and L-arabinose, arbutin, cellobiose, fructose, D-glucose, galactose, D-lyxose, mannose, maltose,
methyl alpha-D-glucoside, raffinose, ribose, sorbitol, sucrose, trehalose and 5-ketogluconate.
Can assimilate D-trehalose.
Negative results for starch hydrolysis, Voges-Proskauer test, acid production from amygdalin, D- and L-arabitol, adonitol, dulcitol,
erythritol, D- and L-fucose, beta-gentiobiose, gluconate, 2-ketogluconate, glycerol, glycogen, inositol, inulin, lactose, mannitol,
melezitose, melibiose, methyl beta-D-mannoside, rhamnose, salicin, sorbose, starch, D-tagatose, D- and L-xylose, methyl
beta-D-xyloside, and xylitol.
No assimilation of D-mannose.
