Species description is based on a single isolate.
Gram-positive cocci, 1.5 µm in diameter. Non-motile. Non-spore-forming.
Colonies on solid medium are orange, smooth, circular and approximately 1 mm in
diameter at 25 °C after 48 h. The surface of the colonies is shiny and glistening.
Growth occurs at 4-30 °C (optimum 25 °C), pH 6.5-10 (optimum pH 9), and with
0.003-20 % (w/v) NaCl (optimum 2% NaCl).
Isolated from a soil sample, collected at Cape King, Antarctica.
Susceptible to nystatin (100 U), streptomycin (25 µg), bacitracin (10 U), novobiocin (30 µg), penicillin (2 U), tetracycline (30 µg), fusidic
acid (10 µg), lincomycin (15 µg), vancomycin (30 µg) and chloramphenicol (10 µg).

Positive results for catalase, ONPG, PNPG, lipase, aminopeptidase, pectin hydrolysis, and xylan hydrolysis.
Utilizes as sole carbon, nitrogen and energy sources acetate, citrate, propionate, succinate, malonate, L-alanine, D-glucose, D-xylose,
galactose, lactose, trehalose, D-fructose and sucrose.

Negative results for casein hydrolysis, gelatin hydrolysis, hippurate hydrolysis,  indole production, nitrate or nitrite reduction, oxidase,
phenylalanine hydrolysis, starch hydrolysis, Tween 80 hydrolysis, urease and Voges-Proskauer reaction, acid production from
D-fructose, D-glucose, galactose, lactose, trehalose, sucrose, and D-xylose.
No utilization of L-arabinose, raffinose, D-mannose, L-cysteine, L-histidine, L-isoleucine, L-lysine, L-methionine, L-serine, L-valine,
formate, gluconate and fumarate.
