halotolerans Li et al. 2004.
Species description is based on a single isolate.
Gram-positive cocci. Motile. Non-spore-forming.
Colonies are circular, opaque and approximately 2.5-3.5 mm in diameter after 24 h at
28 ºC. The colony colour on modified ISP 5 medium is deep orange-yellow (the colour
of the fringe) to light orange-yellow (the colour of the centre); some colonies resemble
concentric rings. The temperature range for growth is 4-40 ºC (optimum 28 ºC), ph
tolerance 7.0-9.0, NaCl concentration range 0-25%. The optimum concentration of
MgCl2 6H2O is 10%.
Isolated from a saline soil sample from Xinjiang Province, China.
Undetermined.
