Species description is based on a single isolate.
Gram-positive cocci. Motile (flagella presented). Non-spore-forming.
Colonies are light yellow to primrose yellow, circular, opaque, somewhat convex and
approximately 0.5-1.0 mm in diameter after 24 h at 28 ºC. Beta-haemolysis is not
produced. Growth occurs at 0-20% (w/v) MgCl
2 * 6H2O (optimum at 5-10%, w/v) and
pH 6.5-10.0 (optimum at 7.0-8.0). NaCl toelrance 0-20%.
Isolated from a saline soil sample from the Xinjiang Province, China.

Positive results for catalase, alpha- and beta-glucosidase, alpha- and beta-galactosidase, lipase, milk coagulation, melanin
production, nitrate reduction, growth in cellulose, lysine decarboxylase, acid production from D-galactose, lactose, mannitol,  
trehalose, and D-xylose.
Can utilize arabinose, cellobiose, dextrin, starch, xylose, glucose (weak), maltose, sucrose, mannose, mannitol, fructose, salicin and
galactose.

Negative results for arginine dihydrolase, casein hydrolysis, gelatin liquefaction, beta-glucuronidase, H2S production, indole
production, methyl red test, N-acetylglucosaminidase and ornithine decarboxylase, oxidase, starch hydrolysis, Tween 20 and 80
hydrolysis, urease, Voges-Proskauer test,
No utilization of lactose, ribose, rhamnose, trehalose, acetamide, inositol, adonitol and sorbitol.
