Phylum Actinomycetota, Class Actinomycetes, Order Micrococcales, Family Micrococcaceae, Genus Tersicoccus, Tersicoccus
phoenicis Vaishampayan et al. 2013, type species of the genus.
Gram-positive cocci, not exhibiting a rod-coccus cycle. Non-motile. Non-spore-forming.
Colonies are smooth, opaque, yellow, round with entire margins, about 1 mm in
diameter after 48 h of incubation at 30 ºC on TSA agar. Growth occurs between 30-55
ºC; no growth below 10 ºC or higher than 65 ºC. Grows optimally at 30 ºC, in the
presence of 0-2% (w/v) NaCl, and at pH 6.0-7.5. Strictly aerobic.
Isolated from the spacecraft assembly clean room facilities from Kennedy Space Center, Florida, USA and Centre Spatial Guyanais,
Kourou, French Guyana.
Undetermined.
