Glaesserella australis Turni et al. 2020.
Gram-negative rods, 0.7-1.2 x 0.9-1.4 µm. Non-motile. Non-spore-froming.
Colonies on blood agar base medium with serum and nicotinamide adenine
dinucleotide are white, convex and around 2mm after overnight incubation at
37°C in air. On 5% sheep blood agar, the organism is NAD-dependent and
non-haemolytic. CAMP test negative.
Isolated from the lungs of pigs.
Isolated from the lungs of clinically sick pigs as well as from lesions in the lungs of slaughter pigs.

Positive results for alkaline phosphatase, beta-galactosidase, indole production, oxidase, acid production from: D(-) arabinose, D(+)
galactose, D(+) glucose, maltose, D(+) mannose, raffinose, sucrose and trehalose.

Negative results for catalase,  alpha-galactosidase, beta-glucuronidase, alpha- and beta-glucosidase, urease, acid production from:
L(+) arabinose, lactose, D(−) mannitol, L(+) rhamnose and D(−) sorbitol.
