Phylum Pseudomonadota (Proteobacteria), Class Gammaproteobacteria, Order Pasteurellales, Family Pasteurellaceae, Genus
Otariodibacter, Otariodibacter oris Hansen et al. 2012, type species of the genus.
Gram-negative rods. Non-motile.
Colonies grown on BA are circular, grey, translucent to opaque, convex, entire,
smooth and pinpoint to 1 mm in diameter after 24 h of incubation at 37 ºC. A
very slight green discoloration of the agar may appear when incubated for more than
48 h. Growth occurs in the presence of 10 % CO2, under anaerobic conditions and at
20 ºC, 30 ºC and 42 ºC. No growth occurs on MacConkey agar. X and V factors are not
required.
Isolated from oral cavity and gingival/dental fossa of California sea lions and a walrus .

Positive results for acid and alkaline phosphatase, catalase, esterase, esterase lipase, indole production, beta-galactosidase
(ONPG), leucine arylamidase, nitrates reduction to nitrites (nitrites are not reduced), naphtholAS-BI-phosphohydrolase, oxidase,
valine arylamidase, Voges-Proskauer test, acid production from: L-arabinose (slow), L-fucose, D-glucose, maltose and trehalose.
Negative results for arginine dihydrolase, gelatin hydrolysis, lysine decarboxylase, ornithine decarboxylase, acid production from:
adonitol, amygdalin, dulcitol, D-galactose, inulin, lactose, melibiose, D-mannitol, D-mannose, raffinose, L-rhamnose, D-ribose,
salicin, D-sorbitol, sucrose and D-xylose.
Variable results for urease and acid production from myo-inositol.
